Thanks for that, Steve.
I've not been involved in the nationalist scene up here for a while but hear bits of news through contacts. My efforts are mostly educational these days in having conversations with folk and puting a good book or pamphlet in their hands. I remember Warren well and met Jim on at least one occasion. The insight that you've given into why Griffin was supported is most useful and I can understand the sense of disapointment that you must have at the way things have turned out. While I voted for John Tyndall, when Griffin won I was still prepared to give him a chance on the basis of nationalist unity although I let my membership lapse. Eleven years on and I don't recognise the BNP of 2010. As central Glasgow is increasingly resembling part of the third-world I do not venture into it unless I have to. I have little idea of what groups are operating up here or of gatherings, etc, though every so often I get half-invitations through people I know to go to meetings/concerts and the like. I'm not so sure that I would be very welcome at any for that matter! I'm somebody who learnt a lesson a while back and later realised that I was the one with egg on my face as a result of my own naivety and the bull manure that others, (whom I thought were ok but later discovered otherwise), had fed me. I know that I owe a few people an apology! Looking back, I wish I had worked harder to re-build bridges. This led me to bow-out of nationalist activity though I have tried to keep up with developments over the years and help the cause on an independent basis. Hopefully all these years on it can be treated as "water under the bridge". Do you write regularly for a publication? Anyway, it would be good to hear more from you, Steve.

I was at the meeting in Leeds and would confirm that all of us had great respect for JT but we believed he had taken the party as far as he could. Since then all the people involved in the Leeds meeting have seen through Griffin at some point or other. |
