Its that old 'will of Allah' again as twelve children died after a suspension bridge collapsed as they were taking part in a traditional ceremony to dispel bad luck by throwing chickens into a river in the worlds largest muslim country of Indonesia.
The accident took place in a remote village in Aceh the province that Allah willed to be hit in 2005 by a Tsunami .
"There were about 37 kids gathered together on a wire-cable suspension bridge when it collapsed and they fell into a river," said suspected Muslim and district chief Ibn u Hasyim.
Twenty-five children were rescued with minor injuries but 12 others all below the age of 12 were swept away in strong currents.
The chicken drowning ritual was done to dispel misfortune after a measles outbreak in the area. Chickens were being thrown into the river when the bridge collapsed, the official said.
It is not known if any chickens survived.
